The first weekend in November approaches, and that means it is almost time for the Charleston Scottish Games!
Hosted by the Scottish Society of Charleston, this Highland Gathering is an annual event that celebrates Scottish heritage and history. Eat and drink traditional Scottish fare, observe competitive athletic events and dance, and learn how Scottish people helped shape the Lowcountry.
Per tradition, The Folly Road Animal Hospital is a proud sponsor of the games, specifically taking great joy in showing off the Border Collies who exhibit their impressive herding skills every year (we are dog people, after all).
Look for our tent and stop by to say hi! There will be samples and swag while supplies last.
Remember to leave your own pets at home, no matter how much they try and convince you they are ready for the big leagues- these Border Collies are professionals, and we want to leave the herding to them.
Human offspring, however, are quite welcome! There will be children’s versions of traditional games to be played, as well as more modern amenities like a jump castle and crafts! Be sure to remind them there are things other than haggis to eat, but – how do they know they don’t like it if they don’t try it?
The 48th Annual Charleston Scottish Games will take place Saturday, November 2nd, 2019, from 9:00am to 5:00pm at Boone Hall in Mount Pleasant.
