Heartworm prevention is important year round. Despite humanity’s best attempts, hungry mosquitoes continue to plague our community.
Luckily, FRAH has many tried and true methods as well as awesome new products for preventing the spread of heartworm disease caused by these tiny winged villains.
Coraxis™
- Coraxis is a new topical heartworm prevention for dogs. In addition to preventing heartworm disease, Coraxis treats AND prevents hookworm, roundworm and whipworm infections – that’s huge! This product is a great option if your dog is difficult to pill, or has food allergies and reacts to oral medication. It is easy to use in conjunction with a product that prevents fleas and ticks. Remember, for each flea you do not see in your house, there are three mosquitoes sneaking in your screen door – always protect your pet from parasites monthly!
Proheart 6®
- On the subject of convenient heartworm prevention, what if you didn’t have to bother your dog at all? Proheart 6 is an injection administered here at our hospital, and ensures your dog’s resentment is directed towards us, so you can continue to be the “cool mom”. We will send you reminders just like we do with vaccines to make sure you don’t miss doses. Proheart 6 is also the most economical option, with weight-based pricing as low as $27 for six months of protection.
Revolution PLUS
